Hi friend!
For the past couple of months, I've been holding space for myself to revisit Ballet as a movement practice. It's been a way for me to stay grounded. I acknowledge this form that lives in my body is here to stay-- the question is how is it staying/living rent-free? Sometimes I enter the space with a mindset to "get better" at doing Ballet because I want that triple turn!! And sometimes I approach Ballet as a somatic practice where I let go of notions of "success" but want to be connected to myself through a form that feels like home. I am opening up my studio time to anyone interested in joining me. Maybe you have an urge to check in with the [emotional/physical] relationship you have with Ballet in a low-stakes setting. Or, maybe you don't have a relationship at all and want to see what initiating one looks like. Perhaps it's somewhere in between. Either way, I am here to hold space with you!
What to expect**:
1. Gather in the space and ease into emotional/physical check-in
2. We will do a juicy warm-up that we all co-lead/all contribute to
3. The next portion of our time together will encourage pauses for inquiry and conversation as a way to check in with what we are doing and why we are doing it. Each session will differ based on who is in the space- we will work together to figure out what we want to work on! We will focus on and explore (but not be limited by) the following fundamental aspects that encompass Ballet technique and how they all relate to one another through ballet vocabulary and other forms/disciplines of movement that our bodies/minds hold.
- Alignment/Placement
- Weight Shift
- Balance
- Ground-to-Air Transitions
- Dynamic Range of Motion
- Dynamic Range of Speed
4. Closing/Cool-down/Stretch/Reflect
**This is only an example of what our time could look like
